Overview

PublicWarden is a free Florida contractor verification tool. We collect minimal data, we don't sell personal information, and we don't run targeted advertising. This policy explains what we collect and why.

Information We Display

PublicWarden displays contractor licensing and insurance information sourced from Florida government databases (DBPR and DWC). This information is public record under Florida's Sunshine Law (Chapter 119, F.S.) and is freely available from the originating government agencies.

Information We Collect From Visitors

Search queries: We log what visitors search for (contractor names, license numbers) to improve the service. Search queries are stored with a hashed (anonymized) IP address — we do not store raw IP addresses.

Correction requests: If you submit a correction or dispute, we collect the information you provide (name, email, details of the correction) to process your request.

Profile claims: If you claim a contractor profile, we collect your name and email to verify ownership.

Analytics: We may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, time on site, device type). Google Analytics uses cookies. You can opt out using browser settings or the Google Analytics opt-out browser extension.

How We Use Information

We use collected information to operate and improve the service, respond to correction requests, identify which contractor records to prioritize, and understand aggregate usage patterns. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data Retention

Search logs are retained for operational analysis. Correction requests and profile claims are retained as long as needed to process and verify them. You may request deletion of your personal information by contacting us.

Contractor Data Rights

The contractor information displayed on PublicWarden is sourced from public government records. If you are a contractor and believe your information is inaccurate, you may submit a correction request. We will review your request against the underlying government data and update our records if the source data has changed.

Children's Privacy

PublicWarden is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
